Bela Bartok spent his life travelling his native Hungary and other Eastern European countries, recording and studying traditional music and dances of the region. His music is vibrant, innovative and colorful, incorporating instruments and sounds not usually found in symphonic music, making Bartok one the the most important and interesting composers of the twentieth century.
